GB Lifts - Traction
Traction lifts tend to be used on high rise buildings and at GB Lifts we recommend traction for buildings
serving 6 floors or more. This is due to the ride quality of the lift and the speed. Traction lifts are
also economical in the long term on electrical costs.
As well as supplying traditional traction lifts with a motor room (above the shaft, below the shaft or
adjacent to the shaft), our range of electric traction motor roomless lifts offer various options in terms
of location of the motor, either in the pit, within the shaft wall, or at the top of the shaft. The MRLs
can reach a speed of up to 1.6 m/s and a capacity of 2,500 kg (33 persons). Some of the models also offer
the option for being fire-fighting lifts compliant to EN 81-72.
